An IntroductionWelcome to my digital portfolio: a continual work in progress.
Hi, my name is Samuel David Travis - three first names, I know.
I grew up in Blanco, New Mexico alongside the San Juan River where my father instilled in me a passion for fly fishing, reading, and the ambition for pushing one's intellect. Both he and my mother are inspiring and dedicated educators. I aspire to follow in their footsteps; the becoming of an individual who devotes their life to the betterment of others. An achievement as such is all one needs to fulfill in one's lifetime. As of right now, I am sitting on a Master's in Education Degree from Fort Lewis College, while I substitute for Durango 9r in Durango, Colorado. My goal is to become an English Language Arts teacher within the next two years after finding the perfect fit through subbing. Every day I spend with youth, I recognize in myself that I am on the right path - that I have certainly found my place in this world. I hope to carry on in this direction for the rest of my life. |
"Do not be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. What if they are a little coarse and you may get your coat soiled or torn? What if you do fail, and get fairly rolled in the dirt once or twice? Up again, you shall never be so afraid of a tumble."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
